Dine fining

Xmas in July. The Foo-the-Noo'ers, our "dine fining" club consisting of the Jiggins, the Kings, the McGrades, the Suttals, from the Gold Coast Queensland tripped off to the mountain to spend Xmas in July at the Bungunya Manor. The rooms were attractive and warm, each unit had its own functioning fireplace. Unfortunatly, an odour permeated throughout our unit from the shower, toilet, area but the scource was quickly identified the culprit was the ever present but quite irrelevant floor waste. This had dried out rendering the water trap redundant and allowing odours from the sewerage to permeat throughout, a simple flodding of the waste trap through the plastic floor grid by a kettle of water stopped the smell in its tracks.
We had happy hour at about 4pm, then went down stairs to a pleasant dining room.We were confronted by a frozen faced touring group seated and wearing party hats. Shame, they had the gear but not the xms cheer! Our party celebrated together over our meal which despite the advertising hype was pretty ordinary with the home prepared "mulled wine" being dispensed as a free add on, it was disgusting. Afterwords we retired to the music lounge and in front of a large fireplace we enjoyed the music of our special entertainer who played music and sung songs in keeping with our vintage. Our small group listened and danced with enjoyment.
Next day we enjoyed a walk around the small but very attractive botanical gardens followed by a lunch of pie's and mushy pease at a venue on the main street. The atmosphere was refreshing, crispy and undeniably freezing, but as Billy Conolly say's its not the weather at fault its the clothing. Later in the day, I went for a walk and was caught up in a magnificent hail storm which was short lived as Bevan, our Saint Bernard equivilent rescued me and the rest of the party and drove us home to another happy hour . We then visited a local Thai restaurant and enjoyed an honest but not great meal in front of a friendly warm fireplace, Why oh why staff insist on spreading their guests out I will never know, for the eight of us they sat us around two dissparit tables one round and one square joined together. I believe that it would be better to have put us all on the one round table which was'nt large but we could cope with being in a state of togetherness on such a cold night, ta ra for now, Geemac
